DITSONG Museums of South Africa is proud to offer the public the opportunity to request access to our records. Whether you’re a researcher, student, or simply curious, you can now explore our extensive collection of historical and cultural information.
How to Request Records
To submit a request, you’ll need to provide full particulars of the record you’re interested in. This includes specifying the type of record, such as:
- Written or printed documents 📝
- Virtual images (photographs, videos, sketches) 🖼️
- Recorded words or sounds 🗣️
- Electronic or machine-readable files 💾
You can also specify the form of access you’d prefer, including:
- Printed copies
- Written transcriptions
- Copies on a flash drive, compact disc, or saved to a cloud storage server
Fees and Payment
A request fee is required before your request can be processed. You’ll be notified of the total access fee, which is determined by the form of access you need and the time it takes to locate and prepare the record. If you believe you qualify for an exemption from fees, please state your reason clearly on the form.
